Laura O´Malley was born in Phoenix, Arizona, USA and received her first ballet training at the Phoenix School of Ballet. From 1995 on she was trained at the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C., where she graduated in 2000.
Right after her graduation she danced with the Boston Ballet's Corps de ballet. In 2001 she joined the Het Nationale Ballet, Amsterdam. At the beginning of the season 2004/05, Laura O'Malley joined the Stuttgart Ballet. She danced in the Corps de ballet until she was promoted to Demi Soloist in 2005/06. In 2008/09 she was promoted to Soloist.
With the Stuttgart Ballet Laura O'Malley already performed the title roles in Giselle (production: Reid Anderson, Valentina Savina), La Sylphide (Peter Schaufuss after August Bournonville) as well as Lulu. A Monstre Tragedy and Leonce and Lena (both: Christian Spuck). Further important roles of her repertoire are Olga in Onegin , Bianca in The Taming of the Shrew (both: John Cranko), Ophelia in Hamlet (Kevin O'Day), Olympia in The Lady of the Camellias (John Neumeier), Adela in Las Hermanas (Kenneth MacMillan) and Nadia in I fratelli – The Brothers (Mauro Bigonzetti). She has also danced the Lilac Fairy, the Blue Bird's Princess, the Grace Fairy and the Amethyst in The Sleeping Beauty (Márcia Haydée after Marius Petipa) as well as further solo roles in Swan Lake , Initials R.B.M.E. , Opus 1 (all: John Cranko), Frank Bridge Variations (Hans van Manen), The Song of the Earth (Kenneth MacMillan), Gaîté parisienne (Maurice Béjart), Dances at a Gathering (Jerome Robbins), Return to a strange Land and Forgotten Land (both: Jiří Kylián), Voluntaries (Glen Tetley), Sirs (Bridget Breiner), Slice to Sharp (Jorma Elo), Lifecasting (Douglas Lee), Bravo Charlie (Marco Goecke) and in Orphée et Euridice , a coproduction of the Stuttgart Ballet and the State Opera Stuttgart (Christian Spuck). Laura O'Malley's repertoire includes Urlicht , The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude (both: William Forsythe), Duetto Inoffensivo (Mauro Bigonzetti) and further ballets by John Cranko, John Neumeier, Kenneth MacMillan, George Balanchine and Uwe Scholz.
