The home/away game: The Stuttgart Ballet in the Theaterhaus
To close it's Anniversary season 2010/11, the Stuttgart Ballet presents a new mixed bill which strongly accentuates the company's commitment to contemporary dance.
In the Theaterhaus Stuttgart, the company will show not only modern works by Hans van Manen, Marco Goecke and Demis Volpi, but also two world premieres by Stuttgart Ballet's Principals Bridget Breiner and Douglas Lee, both of whom will be leaving the company at the end of this season.
"Like for many others before, it is now time for Bridget and Douglas to move on and show what wonderful plants have evolved from the crop they've been sewing here", says Artistic Director Reid Anderson. Next to their successful careers as Principal Dancers with Stuttgart Ballet, both have made a name for themselves as choreographers: Breiner is well-known for her creative and humorous works, often referring to current social issues, while Lee has made his mark by consistently broadening contemporary dance repertoire with his highly aesthetical creations. These two world premieres are consequently guaranteed to present exciting new works!
