Vittoria Girelli, Roman Novitzky, Shaked Heller, and Louis Stiens authored the third edition of the CREATIONS series, presenting their new works in May 2022. Girelli drew inspiration from literature and art: from Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy as well as Francesca Woodman's black and white photographs. Girelli also worked closely with composer Davidson Jaconello, who not only composed himself, but also mixed everyday sounds with sounds by Ludwig van Beethoven, John Tavener, and Anton Arensky. Roman Novitzky, meanwhile, took the end of his active dancing career as an opportunity to look back on his over twenty years on stage and in the studio. Contrasting his great love, contemporary dance, with the classical ballet training which dominated his daily life, Novitzky reflects on, rejoices in and relinquishes this part of his life. The piece is set to a score written expressly for the piece by saxophonist Magnus Mehl in collaboration with sound engineer Philip Kannicht. As co-creators of their latest work Ifima, Stiens and Heller double their potential. In their first joint piece, two dancers stand on stage and interact with a third person who mediates between their different dance languages. The choreographic-duo revisit the past and create a literal reservoir of memories, with water providing new dance and aesthetic possibilities.
