The quadruple bill NEW/WORKS brings together works by four outstanding choreographers who exemplify the Stuttgart Ballet's constant drive for innovation: the former Resident Choreographers William Forsythe, Christian Spuck and Marco Goecke, as well as Edward Clug. The last three created world premieres in June 2021 for the 60th anniversary of the Stuttgart Ballet which could not be more diverse and which bear the unmistakable signature of the respective choreographer. The evening closes with William Forsythe’s Blake Works I, a large ensemble piece which encompasses all the facets that have made Forsythe one of the most exciting choreographers of the 20th and 21st centuries. The work is a declaration of love for ballet as only Forsythe can create it: cool, hip, nonchalant, joyous, immensely technically challenging for the dancers and thrilling for the audience.
