In ecstasy

A participative dance project
Cooperation with the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart
The Stuttgart Ballet is collaborating with the Kunstmuseum, Stuttgart’s museum of modern art, for the exhibition “Ecstasy in Art, Music and Dance”. The exhibit examines the many forms of ecstasy ranging from ancient Greek Dionysian cults, religious rapture, the orgasmic experience or drug induced ecstasy. Within this framework, Stuttgart Ballet dancer and choreographer Louis Stiens will lead a participatory dance project in the museum which will explore how dance and movement can induce a state of ecstasy – something not only many performing artists experience but any and all who have danced the night away in a disco or at a rave party.

Note: We recommend that all participants bring comfortable clothes, a towel and sufficient water – be ready to move!
