Hyo-Jung Kang was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. She started her ballet training in 1998 at the Sunwha Art Middle School in Seoul. From 1998 until 2002 she attended the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C., USA. With the Universal Ballet Company she toured through Korea. In the same year she took part at the Prix de Lausanne and continued her ballet training at the John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart where she graduated in 2004.
In 2003/04 she joined the Stuttgart Ballet as an apprentice and in 2004/05 she became a Corps de ballet member. In 2008/09 she was promoted to Demi Soloist, in 2010/11 her promotion to Soloist followed. After an amazing debut as Juliet in John Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet in April 2011, Artistic Director Reid Anderson promoted Hyo-Jung Kang to Principal Dancer from the season 2011/12.
