Sonja Bräunl was born and grew up in Perth, West Australia. At the age of e she started her ballet training at the Perth School of Ballet. Later she was at the same time member of the Interstate Training Program of the Australian Ballet School in Melbourne. At the age of 16 she danced as Guest or Seasonal Artist with the West Australian Ballet. In the Corps de ballet she danced in Javier Torres‘ The Sleeping Beauty (2021) and Krzysztof Pastors Swan Lake (2022).

Later she attended the Graduate College of Dance in Perth and took part in the Prix de Lausanne 2023. There she was invited to the John Cranko School. So she moved to Stuttgart in 2023 to continue her ballet training at the John Cranko School from shich she graduated in 2025.


In the 2025/2026 season Sonja Bräunl is an apprentice with the Stuttgart Ballet.
