Soo Min Kim was born and grew up in Seoul, South Korea. At the age of 10 she started her ballet training at the Universal Ballet Academy in her hometown. In 2017 she attended the Sunhwa Arts Middle School, in 2020 she continued at the Sunhwa Arts High School for three years. She graduated in 2023 from the Korea University of Arts.

During this time she participated in several competitions. 2016 she won the first prize at the Star of Canaan Dance International Ballett Competition in Hongkong. 2017 she won the Silver medal at the World Ballet Competition in Florida. 2020 she was a finalist at the Prix de Lausanne, 2023 she won a prize at the Prix de Lausanne. 2021 she won the first prize at the Tanzolymp Asia in Seoul. 2023 she also reached the finals of the Youth America Grand Prix in Tampa, where she won the first prize for classical Pas de deux and the second prize at the senior woman division.

During her time at the Sunhwa Arts School she also danced with the Universal Ballet Junior Company and the Universal Ballet Company in Seoul.

In the 2023/24 season Soo Min Kim is an apprentice with the Stuttgart Ballet.
