The beloved CREATIONS format returns with new works that highlight contemporary dance today. Four choreographers, all who have previously worked with the Stuttgart Ballet, return to develop their distinctive styles.
Nnamdi Nwagwu’s provocative choreography has been featured at Noverre: Young Choreographers, the National Ballet of Canada, and the Paris Opera. His most recent work for Stuttgart, Ok Dramah!!, highlights his ability to address serious themes with both empathy and humour. His new work showcases the energetic atmosphere influenced by his Mediterranean-African background.
The power of storytelling lies at the heart of Demis Volpi’s choreography, whether in full-length, or more concise, abstract form. The former resident choreographer of the Stuttgart Ballet now returns to create a new short piece for the company.
Demi-Soloist Vittoria Girelli has proved her choreographic talent time and again, most recently with Vermilion for the Opera House stage. Her keen sense for atmosphere creates particularly rich danced worlds, often inspired by art and literature. For CREATIONS, she creates a new, concentrated piece for her colleagues.
The Italian choreographic duo Sasha Riva & Simone Repele impressed Stuttgart audiences with La jeune Fille et les Morts, and have since created works for Béjart Ballet Lausanne and Ballett Augsburg, as well as commissions in Madrid and Rome. They share a passion for dance, creative process, and poetic storytelling.
